AURORA Partners UGENT and SEAL Aeronautica Publish Paper on Unmanned Aircraft System Operations
We are delighted to announce that AURORA partners UGENT and SEAL Aeronautica have published a paper in the Drones Journal, as part of the MDPI Drones Special Issue. The paper titled “ Towards Safe and Efficient Unmanned Aircraft System Operations: Literature Review of Digital twins’ Applications and European Union Regulatory Compliance,” delves into vital aspects of the rapidly expanding unmanned aerial system (UAS) landscape.
The paper dives into the world of UAS and the need for effective regulations to ensure their safe operation. As technology continues to evolve, so do the applications of UAVs, which necessitates a systematic overview of the EU’s regulatory framework. The paper reviews the development of UAV regulations in the EU and addresses the challenges of implementing these evolving rules in the UAS operations. Additionally, it highlights the role of Digital Twins ability in designing, building, and analysing procedures to aid in the certification process. The paper also emphasises the importance of UAS Digital Twins in laying a foundation for future studies.
Furthermore, we are proud to share that the success of their Special Issue has led our AURORA partners to propose a new edition titled “Urban Air Mobility – Volume II” for which they are pleased to invite you to submit original contributions. Deadline for the manuscript submissions is the 29th of February 2024.
