With the third quarter of the project nearly completed, AURORA’s partners have made quite some technological progress. See below for our recent achievements:
University of Firenze (UNIFI):
- Built a Robot Operating System (ROS) local map
- Performed optical mappings on an x86 chipset with GPU Nvidia
- Conducted radar mappings and avoidance detection using an AWR1642BOOST-ODS sensor evaluation board
- Set up a DJI Matrice 300RTK UAV platform
University of Gent:
- Worked on and optimised the global flight path planning using A* and visibility graphs, TSPTW, 2D, 3D and 4D
Thales:
- Developed a Visual-based absolute localisation based on Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) and Visual Place Recognition (VPR)
- Performed tests on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipped with a VIO device and VPR device. The UAV flew for 709 seconds and covered a grid of 200 x 200 meters
